About enterprise
Christophe Edwards & Andrew Webb, Company
Christophe Edwards studied Mediaeval History at Harrow School and is a cousin of the late, great Ralph Edwards, Curator Of Woodwork at the V&A and the author of 'A Dictionary Of English Furniture' - still considered the definitive work on the subject. Despite which he started dealing antiques from a barrow in Camden Market in the late 70's, following a chequered career as Estate Agent, Van Driver, Contract Cleaner and Musician.
In the late 1980's and early 1990's Christophe's shop in the Pimlico Road, London, SW1 specialised in 'Art Furniture' and other architect-designed pieces and was influential in making the Aesthetic-Movement-Look mainstream.
He worked closely with the late (and much lamented) Jed Johnson and a number of other New York designers.
The ethos of Christophe Edwards is a simple one: he will acquire any form, from any period, in any medium, so long as that object has the workmanship and design to make a powerful sculptural statement.
In 2004 Christophe moved to the Gasworks, London, SW6 to join the collective of inspirational dealers that forms the nucleus of this alternative sales space.
